Western States Hockey League
Junior A Tier III

As junior officials the travel can be the hardest part. One game in one city, next two nights in another; we become very close with one another.  Some of us do it for the money and other do it for the love for the game and to advance to higher level hockey.  Officiating becomes a way of life during the season and you learn how to prioritize.  Eat healthy, exercise frequently and know your travel plans ahead of time.

Being able to perform multiple times a week requires dedication and the right mind set.  Officials are the most abused person in the rink and many ask why we do it?  Simple, the love for the game and the ability to exceed our own exceptions and set the standard for the game; providing safety and organization for all involved in the amazing game of ice hockey.

The commitment is large, but we all love it otherwise we wouldn't be doing it.  You can work mens league and make more money sometimes then junior officials; depending on which league.  Then after all our game experience and all the travel, time, effort and perseverance we instill in ourselves we hope to make is as an NHL official, the ultimate goal for many.
